EFFICIENCY THROUGH INNOVATION

PICT is one of the 25 leading companies having a high rate of success in Pakistan. The success of our company is partly derived by the state of the art technology we use in our operations, to keep the company in the front line. It is a part of our strategy to mitigate the effect of the competition through maximization of efficiencies and further improving services to the customers, and to stay committed to work in the best interest of all the stakeholders in particular the community in which we live and form our customer base. Our company is currently operating 6 STS (Ship to Shore Crane), 20 RTG (Rubber Tyre Gantry), 11 RS (Reach Stacker), 35 PM (Prime Mover), 16 FL (Fork Lift) and 3 MTY (Empty Handler).

Ship to shore (STS)

CRANES

Two of the STS at PICT are Post Panamax and 4 are Super Post Panamax having the capability of transporting up to two 20-foot containers at once. These cranes are put to use at our container terminals to load and unload intermodal containers from the container ships to the trailer which is to be taken to the storage yard. STS crane is a dockside gantry equipped to handle safe working load of 45 MTs (single) / 55 MTs (underhook) and has an outreach of 46 mtrs (Post Panamax) and 54 mtrs (Super Post Panamax).

RTG, RS, MTY

The Rubber Tyred gantry is used in intermodal operations at the terminal to ground or stack containers while the Reach Stackers are used to transport containers at short distances or to pile them up. Empty container handlers are just another type of Reach Stackers that are used at the terminal only for handling empty containers quickly and efficiently.

FORK LIFT (FL)

The Fork Lift as compared to reach stackers have a lower stacking and storage capacity, still the use and development of forklift is greatly expanded. The reason being that its forks are adjustable that can be raised and lowered accordingly. In addition to that, the operator can tilt the mast to compensate for a load's tendency to angle the blades toward the ground and risk slipping off the forks. Tilt also provides a limited ability to operate on non-level ground.

PRIME MOVER (PM)

The Prime Movers however are used to provide motive power for hauling a towed or trailered load. They are large transporters for moving oversized loads that are too large for road travel without an escort, a heavy haulage road or off-road vehicle designed to pull or push heavy or exceptionally large loads using a drawbar.
