As an ISO 14001-certified company, PICT is fully committed to operate in a manner that protects the health and safety of its employees, associated personnel and visitors while complying with applicable Health, Safety and Environmental laws and regulations.
POWER GENERATION
PICT generates its own electricity at the present capacity of 12.2 megawatts. The Power House caters for the entire domestic and commercial power needs of the Terminal.
EMISSION REDUCTION
Subsequent to conversion of diesel operated port equipment into electrically operated, the same are being continuously maintained to reduce emissions.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
Waste management procedure is in place according to which waste collection is performed with segregation between the hazardous and non-hazardous category and are accordingly, disposed off in a proper manner.
SEWAGE TREATMENT
Two Sewerage Treatment Plants are in operation to treat the waste prior to disposal. Samples of their effluents are also tested on set frequency to ensure the effectiveness of their performance.
ENHANCED ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE
Our Company continuously makes efforts to enhance the environmental compliance level within the terminal. It has also formed a green belt inside the terminal which helps in decreasing the carbon foot prints.
OIL SPILL CONTROL
Documented procedure is established regarding oil spill control. In this respect, secondary containment trays and other arrangements are also made available. Furthermore, drills are carried out regularly to demonstrate the spill control activity.
ENERGY CONSERVATION (edited)
Our Company is also focused towards energy conservation. In this area, different initiatives have been taken like replacement of equipment and yard high intensity lights with LED lights, reduction of paper usage through introducing thermal printers etc.
